Camp Aldersgate is a non-profit organization located in Little Rock that provides camping experiences for children with special needs.  These children from in and around the state require care that often keeps them from participating in the kinds of activities many children take for granted. Camp Aldersgate serves over 350 children each summer through our camping programs. This is not your average camp. The children who attend Camp Aldersgate may require extensive daily medical attention for illnesses such as diabetes, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, autism and even cancer. The camp offers fishing, swimming, hiking and other camp experiences that would not be possible without the special care that Aldersgate provides.  Because the camp’s staff is well-trained and the facilities are designed to accommodate the extensive medical & physical needs of the kids, the families are able to take a break from care giving responsibilities while their kids are enjoying camp.

The children who come to Camp Aldersgate live everyday with challenges that most of us could never imagine.  We would like to offer you a VBS mission opportunity that is right here in our own state.  As your children participate in VBS, they can learn about children who will attend this special camp. Camp Aldersgate has a mission curriculum that can be added to any VBS curriculum your church uses.

The Camp Mission Project will provide you with:

• a PowerPoint slideshow that features 5 campers
• a video about the camp
• ideas for making change challenge collection boxes for your children
• an informational brochure which lists items needed at camp
• 5 daily challenges to teach your children

Your children can also send letters to campers who will attend Camp Aldersgate this summer.  This is a wonderful opportunity to teach compassion for those in need and provide a chance to make a difference in the life of another child.
