The deadline for summer volunteer applicants has already passed and we currently have all the volunteer spots filled. You are welcome to still apply, but know that you will be placed on a waiting list for the summer. However, applying now and attending the volunteer training in June will also allow you to be eligible to volunteer for the weekend camps starting in the fall.
The Volunteer Counselor Program is open to youth and adults ages 14 and up.
Volunteers help campers with camp activities such as canoeing, archery, fishing, and swimming. They also assist counselors by helping with some of the campers' personal care such as putting on their shoes and brushing their teeth. Summer volunteers arrive on Sunday morning and stay with the campers and counselors in the cabins through Friday afternoon. Summer camps start in June and end in August. Each summer over 100 volunteers are selected and receive 125 service hours per week. Weekend volunteers arrive on Friday afternoon and stay through Sunday afternoon. The weekend camping programs run from August until May. Weekend volunteers receive 42 service hours per weekend. During their stay, volunteers remain under the supervision of counselor staff.
Work Groups
Work groups are very vital to
Special Events
Volunteers are needed to be on planning committees and work the day of the event for the annual Aldersgate After Dark and Fish Fry fundraisers as well as other special events.
Aldersgate After Dark is an evening event at the River Market that is held in April. Responsible adults are needed to chair and be on sub-committees such as ticket sales, entertainment, decorations, food/beverage, and publicity. Volunteers ages 21 and over are needed the day of the event to serve appetizers, bartend, and assist with the silent auction.
The Fish Fry is Camp Aldersgate's oldest fundraiser. We will be celebrating our 27th Fish Fry in 2010. The event takes place in the fall at Camp Aldersgate. Responsible adults are needed to chair and serve on sub-committees such as ticket sales, entertainment, decorations, and publicity. Numerous volunteers are needed the day of the event as well. Check back closer to the event for more information.
Adopt-A-Building Program
This program is designed for groups or individuals who want to continue their work projects throughout the year. A building, trail, or landscaped area can be adopted. Once an adoption takes place, the person or group is responsible for the upkeep of that area whether it’s painting, gardening, or just cleaning up. The group or individual is also responsible for some of the costs.

Office Help
Things usually pick up in the office around February and go strong through August. Extra help is needed with copying, filing, stuffing envelopes, answering the phones, etc. This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for those who enjoy office work, those looking for something to do after school, or those looking for something to do outside of the home.
