Volunteer Information
In 2012, 739 volunteers contributed 35,533 service hours to Camp Aldersgate. From helping one-on-one with a camper, raking leaves, answering the phones, or even assisting in a work project - we can find the right volunteer fit for you.
There are many ways you can get involved.
Volunteer Counselor Program - Open to youth and adults ages 1
4 and up.
Volunteers help campers with camp activities such as canoeing, archery, fishing, and swimming. They also assist counselors by helping with some of the campers' personal care such as putting on their shoes and brushing their teeth. Summer volunteers arrive on Sunday morning and stay with the campers and counselors in the cabins through Friday afternoon. Summer camps start in June and end in August. Each summer over 150 volunteers are selected and receive 125 service hours per week. Weekend volunteers arrive on Friday afternoon and stay through Sunday afternoon. The weekend camping programs run from August until May. Weekend volunteers receive 42 service hours per weekend. During their stay, volunteers remain under the supervision of counselor staff.

Work Groups
Work groups are very vital to Camp Aldersgate. With only three maintenance staff and 120 acres of land, there is always a need for grounds work. Projects can be found for any size group from 2 to 200! Projects could include painting, raking, gardening, trail work, carpentry, or just a general clean up. Skilled groups are great but are not necessary. We look for projects that fit our needs as well as the interests of each work group. Typically, work groups spend the entire day at Camp, but smaller projects do exist for those with time restraints. Work groups are welcome on weekdays and certain weekends; please understand it is difficult for us to accommodate work groups on most weekends and during the summer months. Special Events
Volunteers are needed to serve on planning committees and work the day of the event for the annual Aldersgate After Dark and Fish Fry fundraisers as well as other special events.
This year's Carousel After Dark event will be held April 20, 2013 at the Twin City Limo in downtown! Responsible adults are needed to chair and serve on sub-committees for ticket sales, entertainment, decorations, food/beverage, and publicity. Volunteers, ages 21 and over, are needed the day of the event to serve appetizers, bartend, and assist with the silent auction. The Fish Fry is Camp Aldersgate's oldest fundraiser. Responsible adults are needed to chair and serve on sub-committees such as ticket sales, entertainment, decorations, and publicity. Numerous volunteers are needed the day of the event as well. We will celebrate our 30th Fish Fry on SUNDAY October 6, 2013 at Camp Aldersgate. In 2012, nearly 200 volunteers contributed over 550 hours to the event. For additional information, contact Stacy Robinson at 501.225.1444 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. This program is designed for groups or individuals who want to continue their work projects throughout the year. A building, trail, or landscaped area can be adopted. Once an adoption takes place, the person or group is responsible for the upkeep of that area whether it’s painting, gardening, or just cleaning up. The group or individual is also responsible for some of the costs.
Seniors Day Out
Camp Aldersgate has a Seniors Day Out Program that meets every Thursday from 10:00am to 1:00pm, September through May. Volunteers are needed to help serve meals, lead singing groups, lead craft activities, and lead bible study. No cooking is involved, as all food is prepared in advance. Van drivers are also needed to transport seniors to and from Camp. Drivers rotate and are called on once a month.
Office Help
Things usually pick up in the office around February and go strong through August. Extra help is needed with copying, filing, stuffing envelopes, answering the phones, etc. This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for those who enjoy office work, those looking for something to do after school, or those looking for something to do outside of the home.
