In Summer 2014, 56 staff counselors and 186 youth volunteer counselors served more than 23,250 hours at Camp Aldersgate. From helping one-on-one with a camper, raking leaves, answering the phones, or even assisting in a work project - we can find the right volunteer fit for you.
There are many ways you can get involved.
Volunteer Counselor Program - Open to youth and adults ages 14 and over.
Volunteers help campers with camp activities such as canoeing, archery, fishing, and swimming. They also assist counselors by helping with some of the campers' personal care such as putting on their shoes and brushing their teeth. Summer volunteers arrive on Sunday morning and stay with the campers and counselors in the cabins through Friday afternoon. Summer camps start in June and end in August. Each summer over 150 volunteers are selected and receive 125 service hours per week. Weekend volunteers arrive on Friday afternoon and stay through Sunday afternoon. The weekend camping programs run from August until May. Weekend volunteers receive 42 service hours per weekend. During their stay, volunteers remain under the supervision of counselor staff.
Volunteers : Make memories of a lifetime while providing a lifetime of smiles to kids with special needs! New Volunteers will be asked to submit an application, complete an interview, and participate in volunteer training before attending Camp.
ATTENTION! New and Returning Volunteers: Our registration website, CAMPWISE, is currently under construction.
Registration for 2015 Summer Camp Volunteers and Counselors will open on February 10, 2015.
If you need to complete a reference form for a volunteer applicant, please call Camp.
Volunteers are needed to serve on planning committees and work the day events.
Adopt an Area of Camp
This program is designed for groups or individuals who want to continue their work projects throughout the year. A building, trail, or landscaped area can be adopted. Once an adoption takes place, the person or group is responsible for the upkeep of that area whether it’s painting, gardening, or just cleaning up. The group or individual is also responsible for some of the costs.
Seniors Day Out
Camp Aldersgate has a Seniors Day Out Program that meets every Thursday from 10:00am to 1:00pm, September through May. Volunteers are needed to help serve meals, lead singing groups, lead craft activities, and lead bible study. No cooking is involved, as all food is prepared in advance. Van drivers are also needed to transport seniors to and from Camp. Drivers rotate and are called on once a month.
