A Letter from our CEO

April 24, 2020

Dear Camp Aldersgate Family,

We hope that you and your loved ones have continued staying safe and are doing well during this time.

Each and every one of you continue to remain at the forefront our minds and the work we continue to do here at Camp. With that being said, we wanted to take some time to update you all on just a few of the things our team is doing to keep the spirit of Camp alive and well.

As you may have seen, our social media continues to be updated daily with fun and encouraging challenges, highlights and thoughts to keep our community engaged with one another and promote positivity in ways that can be experienced no matter your current situation. We recognize that this pandemic and social distancing has impacted everyone in our society, however these impacts are felt differentially person to person. This is why, as always, we strive to plan and innovate through the view of an equity lens.

With that being said, our campers can fully expect a summer packed with excitement and all-inclusive activities by participating in virtual camps. While it may differ from the on-site experience they are familiar with, the creative and passionate efforts our staff put forth year after year has not deterred. We are now, more than ever, abundantly committed to making sure it’s a summer our campers will not only look forward to, but also feel the same sense of inclusion and community. Stay tuned and we will be back soon with more information on what exactly this will look like while ideas are being finalized, as we are extremely excited to share!

Please remember, none of this could be done without the dedication and support from each and every one of you. Camp Aldersgate is blessed with campers and their families who have been understanding and patient with us as we navigate these unique circumstances. We are blessed with counselors and volunteers who are yet deeply committed to lead and assist our programs team this summer. We are blessed with advocates who share and participate with us on social media. And now, more than ever, we are blessed by those who are able to give financially to Camp.

Help ensure that our campers are given the summer experience they deserve by making a gift in honor of this year’s Giving Tuesday on May 5. Your donation not only helps guarantee summer programs free of cost to all camper families, but also offsets the loss of revenue from canceled camps, facility rentals and events.

As we have said before, each and every one of you will always remain the heart of our organization. In the spirit of our Camp Aldersgate song that provides promise for the future to come:

“Together we will stand, because together we are strong.”

With gratitude,

Sonya Murphy
